Fun at Camp Milagros! An Arthritis Foundation sponsored camp for kids with rheumatic diseases

People are often surprised to hear that kids get arthritis, but it's true. In fact, there are over 300,000 children with arthritis and other rheumatic diseases in this country. As a pediatric rheumatologist I spend my days caring for these children and carrying out research to better understand these diseases that can be quite debilitating and even life-threatening. My patients inspire me daily with their never-ending strength and perseverance, and I am walking in their honor.

The Arthritis Foundation provides varies activities for patients and their families including a camp specifically designed for kids with rheumatic disease. Kids have a great time at Camp Milagros, coming back year after year. Due to their illness, many of these children would not be able to experience camp if it weren't for Camp Milagros (which means miracles in Spanish).

The Arthritis Foundation also provides funding to support rheumatic disease research so that someday nobody (child or adult) will have to live with arthritis.
